I’ve always wished that I blogged more during my heavy travel days. I spent so much of the last three years on the road and staying in random hotels that a part of me almost feels like it’s missing from those days. It’s just now that I’m finally starting to unpack the events of the last three years of my life. The last five months of quarantine have really allowed me to slow down and reflect on a lot of things. For so long I was juggling so many things and moving so fast. Going from that pace to being stuck inside the apartment the last few months has been a massive change up. Up until this trip, I had been desperately longing to travel again. After taking probably 40-50 trips in the last three years, I hadn’t left central NY in over four months.

Scrambling to pack for Rhode Island was a welcome feeling. It brought me back to all those times juggling a full time job, full time grad school, coaching and rushing out to Syracuse to catch a flight. It felt great to drive four hours out to Rhode Island listening to good music and catching up on podcasts. My family had been there since Sunday, I arrived Wednesday night. After months of isolation, it was refreshing to be around a group of 20 people for a few days. Some relaxing time away with friends and family was exactly what I needed.
